100% Acrylic
Washing Instructions
- Method: You can either hand wash or machine wash on a gentle/delicate cycle.
- Preparation: Turn the cardigan inside out and place it in a mesh laundry bag to protect the bishop sleeves and knit from snagging or excessive pilling.
- Water Temperature: Use cold or lukewarm water. Avoid hot water, as acrylic is a synthetic plastic fiber that can stretch or lose its shape when exposed to high heat.
- Detergent: Use a mild liquid detergent formulated for delicates. Avoid bleach, which can weaken the fibers.
- Agitation: If hand washing, gently swish the garment; never wring or twist it, as this can permanently distort the knit.
Drying and Storage
- Drying: Lay flat to dry on a clean towel or drying rack. Reshape the cardigan while it is damp.
- Avoid the Dryer: While some acrylic can handle low heat, air drying is safest for longevity. High heat can cause the fibers to "bake" into a stretched position.
- No Hanging: Never hang the cardigan to dry or for storage; the weight of the wet fabric (or gravity over time) will cause the sleeves and body to stretch out.
- Maintenance: If pilling occurs, use a fabric shaver or sweater stone to gently remove the small balls of fiber.
